Beaufort and Washington county commissioners are looking at legal action to fight a proposed landing field for Navy jets. The commissioners voted this week to hire a Charlotte law firm to pursue a lawsuit. No lawsuit has been filed as of yet. Plymouth Mayor Brian Roth says he hopes the lawyers could seek an injunction in early January to stop the Navy from trying to buy some 30-thousand acres. The Navy in September selected a site near Plymouth for the outlying landing field. It wants to use the O-L-F for more than 140 Super Hornet jets based in Virginia and Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station in Craven County.
