WDI paid for a metered parking spot on Front Street between Chestnut and Grace Streets from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wilmington Downtown, Inc. teamed up with Coastal Landscape Architects Friday to participate in PARK(ing) Day and bring attention to the need for more urban parks.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that invites citizens everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks.
"PARK(ing) Day gives WDI an opportunity to highlight the need for more green space in downtown Wilmington. On a per capita basis, downtown Wilmington has significantly less green space than those communities we benchmark against," said John Hinnant, President & CEO of WDI in a press release.
