Local fast employees still not paid.

Burger King is telling its Wilmington employees they will eventually be paid, but that's not the news the workers want to hear. Employees were supposed to get paid Friday but still haven't received their paychecks.

The Port City Burger Kings are owned by Westwind, one of the nation's largest operators of Burger King franchises. The company says it's filing for chapter eleven bankruptcy protection and needs a judge's permission to cut the paychecks. That permission could come as early as Tuesday, but many employees say that isn't soon enough. Burger King has released a statement saying quote, "We regret any hardship or inconvenience to affected employees."

The Wilmington company isn't alone, several Burger King operators across the country filed for bankruptcy in 2002.
