The National Weather Service confirms a tornado occurred on Tuesday night in Robeson County near the town of Rennert.
The tornado occurred between 7:41 to 7:44 Tuesday night and is estimated to have winds of 85 mph. This makes the tornado an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale.
The tornado is estimated to have been on the ground for just short of 1 mile.

The tornado touched down just south of West Great Marsh Church Road causing some trees to become uprooted. The tornado moved north, crossing the road uprooting a few trees near a field.
The tornado peaked at 85 mph south of Vasquez Road where it destroyed a poorly constructed barn and single wide trailer that was used for storage. The tornado also caused minor damage to a double wide home nearby with damage to the foundation and above ground swimming pool, roof shingles and pump house.
As the tornado neared Vasquez Road it peeled the metal roof off another double wide home. It destroyed the back porch of this home and uprooted several trees. The tornado crossed Vasquez Road and moved North into a wooded area uprooting a few trees. The tornado then moved north of Covington Farm Road and dissipated.
