BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WECT) – Hurricane may not directly hit the Wilmington coast, but it could end up washing away months worth of wedding plans. Irene has the potential to be a wedding crasher, and some brides are deciding whether to move their big day.
Shauna Harris, an event coordinator in Bald Head Island, is giving her bride and groom the option of moving their "big day" up from Saturday to Thursday.
Some brides are fortunate to have vendors willing to accommodate, the biggest setback may be not having all their guests.
It's not just the venues that have to be willing to change plans, vendors like florists, hair dressers, photographers and caterers would have to be able to reschedule as well.
Workers at Julia's Florist have come accustomed to having a flexible schedule during hurricane season. They understand things can go wrong with a hurricane-season wedding.
Personal makeup artist Brandy Herring isn't putting her kit away just yet. She says if the bride doesn't want to cancel, neither will she.
Harris said her couple scheduled to be wed Saturday is waiting for one more advisory before making their final decision on the date.
