NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger no longer faces an assault charge.
The District Attorney's Office dropped the charge of Assault on a Female against Berger. Berger's attorney Thom Goolsby says the other charge of injury to personal property was ruled as a prayer for judgment continued and Berger only had to pay costs in regards to that.
Last month, Berger was arrested at his home after a verbal altercation with his girlfriend at the time, Heather Blaylock. During the altercation, Berger was accused of ripping the door handle off Blaylock's car.
WECT is gathering more information on this developing story and will update it as we get it.
