WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Friends and family gathered Wednesday to say their final goodbyes to a teen who was shot and killed last week.
Tony Leon Harris, Jr. was found lying on a front porch on North Fifth Avenue last week. He was 16 years old. Those closes to him called him TJ.
"All of the kids are dying too young," said Earline Barnhill, a family friend. "It's too much going on. Someone's got to get together and stop all the killing and violence that's going on."
The pain from the service left family members gripping to hold on to the memory of TJ and friends in disbelief.
"I still can't believe it," said De-Quan Norman. "[TJ was] a true friend, a good friend – someone I can talk to. If I had problems, I could go talk to him."
No arrests have been made in the case at this time. A family relative said the tragedy was likely gang related.
