NHC Schools' Budget Approved

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Some last minute additions have the newly approved New Hanover County Schools' Budget looking better than originally expected.

Board member Elizabeth Redenbaugh said the School Board retained 6 AIG teaching positions and saved a drop-out prevention specialist with $1 million from its 2-25 fund. County commissioners approved the shift of money at their June 20 meeting.

An extra $1.1 million allowed the Board to stop a 1% reduction to teaching and administration supplements and keep 3 ESL teaching positions, according to Redenbaugh.
