(Source: WHEC/CNN)ROCHESTER, NY (WHEC/CNN) - After nearly a century of searching, it seems a life-long bachelor has finally found his soul mate.
Gilbert Herrick recently got married for the first time at the age of 99. He met his wife at their nursing home in Rochester, NY.
He saw her hand-painted china on display and wanted to meet the artist. It turned out to be 86-year-old Virginia Hartman.
They got to know each other and it led to a romance.
Herrick says Harman requested to share a room, but the nursing home said they had to be married for that. She then proposed, and he accepted.
The couple got married at the nursing home surrounded by friends, family and staff.
As for the honeymoon, the couple joked they wanted to elope to Fiji. But they realized it wouldn't be easy to leave the nursing home without permission.
