Today's web site is dedicated to classic wood-trimmed cars and trucks--or woodies. Until the 1950s, woodies were trimmed with real wood. But as plastics became more prevalent, wood trim turned into wood-looking plastic and wallpaper, that is all but extinct from new cars until it started reappearing on Chrysler PT Cruisers.
This site has a gallery of pictures of wooden vehicles from around the world and some more unusual ones: take "Wilma" here, inspired by the Flintstones. Or check out this wooden Ferrari. There's also some classic ads from the woodie wagon's prime--from the 20s to 50s.
A glance at the classified section shows that these classics can run a pretty penny--on par with new car prices for a piece of nostalgia.
