Carolina Beach postpones fireworks show due to dry conditions June 23, 2011 at 2:26 PM EST - Updated June 24 at 11:57 AM CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Carolina Beach is the first to postpone a scheduled fireworks show because of extremely hot, dry conditions. A weekly show planned for Thursday night will have to wait, after Carolina Beach and New Hanover County officials decided Thusday morning that it was too risky. As for dozens of other professional displays, New Hanover County Fire Marshal Matt Davis said they will be handled on a "case by case" basis. The area's biggest fireworks display is Wilmington's annual Battleship Blast at the Battleship North Carolina on the Cape Fear River. Copyright 2011 by WECT. All rights reserved.
