NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A court order forbidding New Hanover County Commission Brian Berger from communicating with his girlfriend, Heather Blaylock, has been dropped.
Blaylock said a New Hanover County judge lifted the "no contact" order Thursday, after she made a request.
Berger was arrested and charged with assaulting Blaylock last Friday. After an argument, Berger ripped off Blaylock's car door handle and threw it at her.
A judge ordered him not to communicate with Blaylock. Tuesday afternoon, a post on her Facebook site indicated he had requested to be her friend and she accepted.
When asked by WECT's Ashlea Kosikowski if he had contacted Blaylock on Facebook, Berger said, "I can't comment on that specifically. I can tell you with 100-percent confidence that I am innocent."
The District Attorney's office is investigating whether Berger violated the order by contacting Blaylock on Facebook.
