Baseball Teams Wear Pink For Holly Bobo 5-24-2011

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

It's been more than 40 days since anyone has seen 20-year-old Holly Bobo, but her neighbors in Decatur County said she crosses their minds every day.

On Tuesday, some friends are wearing reminders of Bobo as they try to become state champions. For Decatur County Riverside High School softball player Taylor Johnson, winning a state championship is everything.

"This is something we've been working for, for four years," Taylor said.

But in the middle of the season, the community was rocked by the news of Bobo's disappearance. It hit close to home for Taylor.

"It's been very difficult for our team. Holly Bobo is actually my cousin. We've all been torn up about it," Taylor said.

"We had one tough ballgame. When that happened, we were not focused," said coach Michael Box.

The Lady Panthers softball team joined thousands of other volunteers in the search for Bobo and team members are wearing pink ribbons in her honor.

"We keep her with us everywhere we go. We keep her in our prayers," said teammate Briana Culpepper.

The Decatur County Riverside baseball team also made it to state. They, too, wear a reminder of Bobo: pink shoestrings.

"Almost everybody on the team went out and searched and put in the effort," said student Josh Keen.

The three-time defeating 1A champions are now hoping for No. 4. They want to give Decatur County something to cheer about.

"(There have) not been many smiles around there the last couple of months," said coach Dusty Rhodes. "Our kids know the importance. Maybe this week can bring some smiles back to them."

Investigators are looking for any clues that could lead them to Bobo. She's been missing since April, and police said she was last seen being led into the woods by a man wearing camouflage.

There's an $80,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of her kidnapper.

Anyone with information about Bobo's location is asked to call 800-TBI-FIND.
