Drug supplier to gangs in New Hanover County sentenced to prison
RALEIGH, NC (WECT) - A man from Wilmington will spend 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges.
Tremell Rashaud McKinney, 35, pleaded guilty last September to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and fifty grams or more of cocaine base.
Acting on tips from multiple sources, investigators found out that McKinney was responsible for distributing a large amount of cocaine in eastern North Carolina. Some of the drugs were distributed to gang members in New Hanover County. Investigators say McKinney was responsible for distributing more than sixty kilograms of cocaine, ten kilograms of crack cocaine and 225 kilograms of marijuana and had sources of supply in Texas and Georgia.
