Pat McCrory and other North Carolina conservative leaders say they're confident last year's tax overhaul law will result in more money in the hands of state residents - and more jobs. ATLANTA (AP) - A prosecutor says the FBI is still seeking additional suspects in the case of a kidnapping in which the father of a North Carolina prosecutor was held several days before being freed by agents. RICHMOND, Va. Greensboro-based Lorillard Inc. paid $1.1 billion of the annual settlement money into an account ordered under a 1998 Master Settlement Agreement.

TARBORO, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty Tarboro police officer is dead after the van he was driving collided with an excavator truck in Edgecombe County. Chief Damon Williams said 46-year-old Charles Johnson, a 24-year veteran of the force, was killed Tuesday.
