The New $20 Design October 15, 2003 at 9:34 PM EST - Updated September 26 at 6:00 PM If you get a funny looking twenty dollar bill next time you get change at a store, don't think you're getting gypped. It's probably one of the new-look twenties that are now in circulation in southeastern north carolina. It's the pink and blue colors on the bill that have people looking twice. The new design is harder to fake and easier to verify. That should prevent counterfeiting. Local residents think the new look will do the job. Some of the new security features on the bill are a watermark, security thread, and color shifting ink. If you haven't gotten one of the twenties yet, you'll soon see plenty about them on t.v. The government is spending one point six million of them....that's a total of thirty two million dollars in an ad campaign to introduce the bills.
