TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) – A nursing assistant in Tabor city was arrested in Bladen County Thursday, accused of engaging in sexual activity with a patient.
According to the Tabor City Police Department, Katonia Davis paid a patient at Waterbrooke Assisted Living $20 last Saturday for the acts. The patient was in his mid-40s.
Police say another employee at the assisted living facility saw the act and directly reported it to her supervisor.
Facility manager Sharon Crawford fired Davis immediately after the incident, despite Davis saying she had strong feelings for the patient and was very attracted to him. She had worked at the facility for four months, but never had any problems.
Crawford said she knew Davis had a financial criminal history, but said it wouldn't affect her job as a nursing assistant because she didn't touch money. The manager said she and her staff do everything they can to run a good facility.
According to police, Davis was on probation at the time of the incident. She is charged with a sex offense.
