PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A sixth person has resigned from the Pender County Board of Health.
Commissioner chairman George Brown said he received a letter of resignation Monday from pharmacist Dr. Sean Gray. In the letter Gray suggests Brown has been a roadblock in finding a new health director.
Five other board members have resigned this month as well. Former BOH Chair Terri King was the first to submit her resignation, saying Brown has bad blood with the health department.
Three other board members followed suit – Dr. Heather O'Brien, Dr. Robert Zambrowski and Dr. Bobby Watkins. Dr. Perry Motsinger also turned in her resignation because she's having a baby.
When King resigned, Brown said her statements simply aren't true.
"I'm only one vote on a board that has 11 positions and the commissioners have bent over backwards for the board of health. I too am very frustrated that an offer hasn't been made for a health director," said Brown earlier this month.
