COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deliberations continue in the sentence hearing for Danny Thomas, a man accused of killing four people in 2005.
The jury began deliberating last week and has yet to come to a verdict. They were in court Saturday until 5:00 p.m. but still hadn't reached a decision.
Thomas was found guilty earlier this month of killing four people in Columbus County in 2005. The man is accused of killing Craig Williams in addition to newlyweds Dennis and Regina Inman and Regina's brother.
The jury is trying to decide if Thomas should spend life in prison or be put to death for his crimes.
One of the jurors handed a note to the judge Monday, explaining she would not be able to be in court Tuesday to continue deliberations because of a doctor's appointment she's had planned for six months.
Since a unanimous decision could not be reached Monday, the judge told the jurors to return to court Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
