Before you drop a line this weekend, check out our mobile exclusive fishing report:
Despite this cool down, the local fishing should be good all weekend.
Jamie at County Line Bait and Tackle tells WECT.com the bream are biting well on black worms, red worms and crickets. Those dropping a hook in the Northeast Cape Fear River are still catching crappies on small minnows and jigs and a few bass on plastic lure. Plus, the catfish are hitting the hooks with cut bait, shrimp, cut eels and stink bait.
At Sutton Lake, there are reports of a few bream being caught there along with a few flathead catfish.
Carolina Explorer Fishing Charters tell us there have been inshore catches of red and black drum being brought in by using gulp alive shrimp, fresh shrimp and mud minnows. Just off the beach, a lot of bluefish are being caught by trolling on clark spoons or casting jigs, and there have been a few spanish mackeral mixed in as well. In the Gulf Stream, reports coming back indicate some really good catches of wahoo, black fin tuna and a few mahi.
Down at the Kure Beach pier, bluefish and spanish are being caught on gotcha plugs and shrimp, along with a few whiting. Plus, three kings were caught this week.
