A possible tornado ripped its way through Pender County Thursday evening.
Some of the worst damage was at a vineyard outside of Atkinson off Highway 53, on land owned by Kelly Bloodworth.
Two barns there were flattened by the storm. Bloodworth said his grandfather built one of the barns.
Bloodworth also showed WECT the damage to his vineyard, where he grows grapes for Duplin Winery. He estimated that 300 plants were damaged.
From his property, the storm went straight into Atkinson. Several people reported seeing what looked like a loosely formed funnel cloud with debris spinning inside.
The storm uprooted several trees. It also knocked down trees onto roads and power lines.
Firefighters in Atkinson report that no one was hurt.
