Liz Biro may not be a familiar face, because as a food critic, she generally keeps it hidden; however, you've probably read her restaurant reviews in the Star News.
Now, she's the one getting rave reviews for leading diners through downtown on restaurant tours.
"Because I'm a food writer, people are asking me all the time where to eat," Biro said. "I'm like a walking restaurant guide, so, I decided to become one."
On Thursday afternoon, Biro walked the Red Hat Ladies through downtown Wilmington on a tour she calls "Culinary Adventures with Liz Biro".
The tour took diners to Aubriana's, the Hot Pink Cake Stand, Crow Hill, and NY Pasta House.
At each stop, Biro and her followers chatted with the chefs and sampled dishes.
But Biro says the tour is about more than just food.
"The great stories I've heard over the years, I just wanted to be able to share those with people," she said. "People go into restaurants and they have no idea the stories behind these fabulous places."
Biro says Culinary Adventures is also a great boost for businesses.
"Just about every restaurant on the tour ends up with customers who come in, they get to meet the chef, they get to taste some food and they go back to that restaurant that night."
Maxine Nelson was one of the diners from the Red Hat group. She said she enjoyed the experience.
"It's a fun thing to do," said Nelson. "It's something different. If you're not familiar with downtown, you get to learn about the restaurants that you never hear about."
