WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department have closed the investigation into the murder of a 19-year-old in the Creekwood area in 2010.

Teshon Malik Lane was killed in shooting off Emory Street in October.  Another person was injured in the shooting, but the identity was not released.

According to Lucy Crockett with the police department, Taaron Quintel Jones had long been identified as the suspect in Lane's death.  She said investigators did not have enough evidence to charge him.

Jones was stabbed to death after a fight broke out near the Rhino Club in downtown Wilmington as clubs closed around 2:30 a.m. January 24. He was a confirmed Five Star General of the Double I Street Gang.

Crockett said detectives received additional information within hours of his death to confirm what they already knew about Jones' role in killing Lane.

Officials chose to delay officially closing the earlier case out of consideration for all surviving family members, according to Crockett.

Ronald Armond Farrow, 30, and Angeleos Roamel Williams, 27, were both arrested and charged in connection to the murder of Jones.
