BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Four people died in an accident involving a school bus in the Supply area Tuesday afternoon.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a car with four people inside crossed a center line in a curve and hit a school bus head on. It happened on Camp Branch Road, near Highway 211 around 4pm.
A family of two adults and two children in the 1992 Chrysler were killed. Highway Patrol says the victims are Joshua Speed Williams, 31, Brandy Nicole Williams, 30, Joshua Kendall Williams, 9 and Gavin Lee Williams, 6. The family was from Ash.
Two people on the bus, driver Connie Russ and a student, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The bus was one from Waccamaw Elementary School in Ash.
Both Joshua and Gavin Williams attended school at Waccamaw Elementary School. Officials from the school district said a crisis team will be at the school Wednesday morning to help students deal with the tragedy.
"Brunswick County Schools and the Waccamaw community are deeply saddened by the tragic accidental death of the Williams family," said Dr. Edward Pruden, Superintendent. "We are grateful that our bus driver and student were not seriously injured. We ask the community to keep these families in their thoughts and prayers."
