WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -  Power outages are being reported in Bladen and Sampson County tonight.

According to Progress Energy's web site, about 3400 customers were without power late Monday evening. Four County Electric customers also reported an outage.

A spokesperson for Progress Energy says the outage is related to the Garland power substation and may have been caused by the wildfire in Cumberland County.

That wildfire near the Bladen County and Cumberland County border has scorched nearly 800 acres.

It is unknown at this time how quickly power will be restored. A Four County spokesperson says they are in the process of rerouting power due the wildfire getting into some Progress Energy lines.
