UPDATE: Victim dies, two others injured in parking lot fight

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Taaron Jones, 19, died from stab wounds after a fight in downtown Wilmington early Monday morning, according to police.

The fight started in front of the Rhino Club on Market Street shortly after 2:00 a.m.

At closing time, a large crowd left the club and a fight broke out, according to police.  Witnesses told officers that 30-40 people were involved and three men were stabbed.  All victims went to the hospital.

The other two victims are in stable condition and are expected to recover.

Police say a second incident took place a few minutes after the stabbing and may be related.

Two men were shot in the 600 block of Emory Street around 2:30 Monday morning.

One was grazed in the head and the other was shot in the back.  They are expected to recover.

Both witnessed the fight in front of the Rhino Club, according to police, before taking off for the Creekwood community.  They said when they got to their destination, someone opened fire on them from another vehicle.
