WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A viewer wrote into See, Click, Fix reporting there have been many accidents at the intersection of St. Andrews Drive and Carolina Beach Road.
They said St. Andrews should be limited to a right turn only onto Carolina Beach Road.
This is one of those intersections where drivers coming from St. Andrews Drive have to cross two lanes of traffic then stop in the middle at a break in the median to get onto Carolina Beach Road. It can get congested especially when the cars double up at the median.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation this will be fixed.
"This intersection will become a directional crossover that will restrict St. Andrews Drive to the right-in/right-out/left-in movements only," explained Ben Hughes with the NCDOT. "This safety improvement will be similar to the one already constructed at Carolina Beach Road and Menassas Drive."
The plan is part of a bigger Carolina beach road improvement project expected to be completed by July 2012.
