Layoffs ahead at New Hanover Health Network

News 6 has learned that New Hanover Health Network will layoff employees starting in the fall.

Hospital staff found out today network officials have made millions of dollars in cuts but there is still a $2.2 million gap between projected revenue and expenses. Despite their efforts in spending cuts, officials say there is no other option but to start cutting its workforce.

The layoffs will take place in the next fiscal year which begins October first. No word yet on how many employees or which departments this will affect.
