Almost two years ago a Pender County man found his daughter dead in a shallow grave on Christmas Day. Friday, her murderer struck a deal with prosecutors and entered a guilty plea.
Twenty-year-old Eric Wells had just been released from the Oaks Mental Hospital when he strangled Kia Pell. He then buried her in his backyard. Wells plead guilty to second degree murder, and is expected to spend the next 20 years in jail.
