With school cranking up across the area now, I thought it'd be a good time to look at some sites geared for the kids. We'll start off with two of the more popular search engines geared for kids--Yahooligans and Ask Jeeves Kids. Both have their share of reference materials on many subjects as well as games to play.
This site is more for the younger kids--it tests your knowledge of Dr. Seuss books through interactive games. The Alfy site calls itself "the web portal for kids" and is set up like an amusement park. Some of the games cater more for younger kids, others for older ones. This next site is geared for any school-aged student, from Kindergarten through 12th grade: it's the North Carolina Wise Owl, run by the state's Department of Public Instruction. It's mainly a collection of resources for both elementary and secondary students, but also has resources for teachers and parents.
