Veronica is a California girl who gravitated towards the East Coast while completing her Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of California, Irvine. After interning at the nation's capital she discovered that rather than helping shape legislation she was more passionate about reporting news that affected people's everyday lives. (She should have known this because every high school assessment test pointed towards journalism!)
In Washington Veronica gained her journalism experience through a Scripps Howard News-Service Fellowship. She later went on to work at the Washington Post and intern at Telemundo Network. Then in May 2010, she completed a Masters in Journalism at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
Veronica arrived at WECT in September and splits her time as a multimedia journalist and producer on Saturdays. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and volunteers at the Cape Fear Literacy Council.
