WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington residents are concerned about a sink hole on Wellington Avenue that has been there for about a month. They say it could cause some serious damage to someone's car.
The City of Wilmington maintains the road and determined the sink hole was caused by damage to a storm water drain culvert that runs under the road.
City crews have made a temporary fix until a permanent fix can be made, so there is no impact to traffic in the area and they are continuing to monitor the situation.
A city spokesperson says they have found a way to be able to make the needed repairs without having to dig up the road. The city is getting ready to get bids for the project and it is expected be fixed early next year.
