See, Click, Fix: Traffic signal for shopping center

Reported by Kim Ratcliff – bio |email

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Several residents are concerned about traffic on Carolina Beach Road near the Masonboro Commons shopping center.

"It is very dangerous coming out of Food Lion unless making a right - you face four corners of traffic," said Kathleen in the See, Click, Fix section of WECT.com.

"Now they have put up a McDonalds here," added JA Long.  "During rush hours this has compounded a very dangerous situation. I have seen 3 near mishaps in as many days. We need a light here more than ever."

And Susan agrees, "the way they have done the turn lanes made it a "little" safer. Definitely need a light there. Some major accidents have already taken place there in the past."

A traffic signal is planned for the shopping center in conjunction with the new McDonald's restaurant.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, any time a development causes an impact to existing traffic it is the developer's responsibility to make improvements.

There is no word on when the traffic signal will be installed.
