BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Republican John Ingram is keeping his job as the Sheriff of Brunswick County.
Ingram was appointed to the position in 2008 after working 17 years in several departments within the Sheriff's Office.
He defeated Democrat Elizabeth "Rendy" Lewis.
Both candidates have decades of experience in law enforcement.
Ingram has promised to continue cracking down on crime and prescription pill abuse. He says he's proud of the progress made by the Sheriff's Office under his leadership.
Lewis told voters that the Sheriff's Office needs to be restructured to increase efficiency and response time to victims. She also wants to gain accreditation for the Office.
WECT's Casey Roman is with the Ingram campaign and will have a full report later on WECT.
