WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Six days to go and the jabs just keep on coming in the District 7 race for Congress.

Both, Congressman Mike McIntyre and Ilario Pantano held press conferences Wednesday.

During McIntyre's press conference, the incumbent blasted Pantano for supporting the privatization of social security.

"My opponent, who once worked on Wall Street, and has the mentality of putting things at risk on Wall Street, has said he supports privatization," said McIntyre.

McIntyre also signed a pledge where it states that he will oppose all efforts to privatize social security.

In response to McIntyre's claim, Pantano said, "I do not support the privatization. What I do support is reforming it." Pantano did say, however, that he is supportive of the controversial Ryan Social Security plan.

Pantano made most of his comments, comparing McIntyre to House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi. Pantano told a crowd that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent over $440 thousand on some of McIntyre's television advertisements. Pantano's claim is that Speaker Pelosi controls the D-Triple-C.

"Why would she (Pelosi) do that if he (McIntyre) didn't work for her," Pantano questioned.
