Marines unload ships at State Port

The war is more or less over and now it's time to bring all the equipment back home.

The 750-foot U.S. Merchant Marine ship Cape Henry docked at the State Port Wednesday afternoon. On board is hundreds of Marine humveess, tanks and cargo bins. There's also some equipment captured from enemy forces.

It will take two days and 120 Marines to complete the offloading. Then, military convoys will take everything back to Camp Lejeune and other nearby bases.

Port officials say the process does disprut business, but they're happy to help.

The unloading begins Thursday at 8 am. Once the Cape Henry is gone, three to five more ships will follow.
