WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Thalian Hall will turn 152 years old Tuesday and will spend its birthday hosting the annual "League of Historic American Theatres" conference.
About a dozen historic theatre leaders from California, Kansas, Florida, New York and Ohio gathered at Thalian Hall Monday for the first day of the event.
The conference features discussions on strategies for economic development and forming community partnerships.
Those attending the conference held their discussions in the newly renovated theatre. Fran Holden, executive director of the league, said she is impressed that Thalian was able to get $4 million worth of restorations when the economy was at its worst.
This is the second time Thalian was chosen to host the conference. It was also selected during the 80s.
