Halftime is here in the tropics

By Eric Davis - bio |email| facebook

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -  After a rough week in the tropical Atlantic last week, the tropics have turned decidedly quieter this week.  This is a surprising turn since September 10 usually marks the most active period in the tropics most years.

The bad news is we still have half of hurricane season to go.  The Atlantic's hurricane season does not end until November 30.  Hurricane Earl should be a lesson that we always need to be prepared.  If you haven't made preparations we have information on how to do so in our First Alert Hurricane Center.  http://www.wect.com/global/Story.asp?s=12575773

Tropical storm Igor formed off the African coast this morning.  This system is at least a week away from any impact on the U.S.
