Wilmington lands One Tree Hill

After several weeks of uncertainty, The Wilmington Regional Film Commission announced that a new television series will be produced in Wilmington. Producers from Warner Brothers Television have committed to 12 episodes of "One Tree Hill" over a 6 month period. The Commission estimates that the series will employ 125 people full time and 3000 extras part time. The pilot, about 2 brothers living in a small North Carolina town, was filmed at various locations around the city. But for a time, it appeared the series may not be shot in Wilmington. The producers were seriously consideringVancouver because of lower costs. But, the city, county and state stepped in with incentives totaling $700,000. Pre-production will begin in the next 2 months, filming will not start until the fall.
