When will the ferries close?

COASTAL CAROLINA (WECT) – Despite the threat of Hurricane Earl, all ferries are operating at this time, according to the NC Department of Transportation Ferry Division.

Ferries will stop running if sustained winds reach 40 mph, but the captain can use discretion to stop the service if he feels safety could be at risk.

The NC DOT is providing updates on a twitter feed to keep residents informed of closures.  You can follow them @NCDOT_Ferry.
