DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Duplin County has the third highest number of meth lab busts in North Carolina this year, according to new numbers from the SBI.
The report shows busts from January 1 through the end of August. Watauge County tops the list, followed by Anson County.
According to the data, there was a meth lab bust in Brunswick County in January when an informant led investigators and SBI agents to a home in Calabash.
In addition to being illegal, officials say meth lab operations are dangerous because the drugs are cooked with volatile chemicals increasing the chance for an explosion.
