Two research teams used mathematical models to try to predict the course of the outbreak. A United States and Canadian team says the spread could be slowed by such tools as early detection and quarantine.
However, one of the United States researchers says this just an early look. He says there are still a lot of unknowns that could determine the outbreak's true course. The studies are in the journal Science.
