NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WECT) - A man that is accused of leading police on a chase through Brunswick County continues to evade police, but in the Horry County area of South Carolina.

This situation started Monday morning with a stolen car report out of Pender County.  Brunswick deputies spotted the suspected vehicle on Benton Road and Highway 17 and chased the suspect into South Carolina.  The chase ended on the beach in Horry County.

Police in Horry County say they took the suspect, Jeffrey D. Collins, 45, to Conway Hospital for treatment.  He was unrestrained while getting treatment and took off.  Tracking dogs couldn't pick him up either.

Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, officers spotted a 1997 Ford F-150 that was reported stolen and followed it, thinking Collins was inside.  The vehicle crashed on Elk Drive in the Murrells Inlet section of Horry County and the suspect ran.  Officers couldn't find that suspect.

When he's caught, Collins will face charges of felony fleeing to elude arrest and one count felony possession of a stolen vehicle.  He'll also face the escape charge in Horry County.
