Biker deaths

Authorities say a ninth biker has died in Myrtle Beach during one of the deadliest bike week's in the Grand Strand's history. Thirty-three-year-old Tim Bacote of New Jersey died shortly after crashing his motorcycle into the back of a trash truck Monday morning.

Authorities think Bacote was in town for the Atlantic Beach Bikefest, which begins Friday. Eight people were killed in motorcycle accidents in Myrtle beach during the Harley-Davidson rally that ended Sunday.

Over the last 63 years, bikers have been coming from all over the country for this annual event. Thousands of motorcyclists flock to Myrtle Beach each year for the Annual Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association Myrtle Beach Rally. With the increase in the number of bikers authorities say it is only natural to see an increase in the number of fatalities.

Authorities say Bacote, along with others that were involved in the fatal wrecks were not wearing helmets. Officials say this could be a contributing factor to those dying in the accidents.
