Penderlea Elementary School

The Pender County Board of Education is asking county commissioners for $150,000 to finish a building project at Penderlea Elementary School.

The job is already underway with a federal grant paying for the work so far. And the workers found more trouble than they anticipated, including asbestos that has to be removed.

School officials say they need a quick approval from the commissioners in order to finish the work before school resumes in August. If the work is not complete done, classes will be moved to the auditorium.
