City Council studies speed hump effects

A divided Wilmington City Council voted to order a study of eight streets with speed hump issues. Mayor Harper Peterson says speed humps on some streets are pushing traffic onto other nearby roads without the humps, causing traffic problems.

The Council voted four-to-three asking the city manager to look into those problems and find a solution. Opponents of the measure say it will interfere with a much larger city-wide study of speed limit and speed hump issues.
