Residents are speaking out, some loudly, about the speed limit on Greenville Loop Road in Wilmington. In a feisty exchange before city leaders Thursday night, about one hundred people argued over the speed limit. In January, city council voted to lower the speed limit from 45 to 35 for a 90 day trial period. City workers have been measuring traffic volumes and speeds to evaluate the new limit. Critics of the lowered speed limit say it is doing more harm than good. Most of the people at Thursday's meeting seemed to support continuing the thirty five mile per hour limit.
