AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour comes to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The AARP is teaming up with Walgreens to promote good health by offering free health screenings in June.

The AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour is on the second leg of its two-year national health screening tour.  Their goal is to provide more than $60 million worth of free health screenings throughout the United States.

Health screenings are a way to detect potential diseases before symptoms are noticed.  The free screenings include total cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels, waist circumference and body mass index.

The screenings are recommended for anyone 18 years of age or older and no appointment is necessary.  A pharmacist or staff member instantly provides the results and reviews them with the customer.

The screenings will be held at three Walgreens in the Wilmington area over the next few days.  Locations and times include:

Friday, June 4
Walgreens, 4521 Oleander Drive in Wilmington
Noon - 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 5
Walgreens, 3720 S. College Road in Wilmington
Noon - 6 p.m.

Monday, June 7
Walgreens, 2130 17th Street, Wilmington
Noon - 6 p.m.
