Two Wilmington cops suspended after mother files complaint

Two Wilmington Police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after a woman filed a complaint against them.  Sheila Irrera says the two men threatened her eleven-year-old son, Nicholas, after he hit one of their sons with a newspaper on a school bus.

Irrera says officer Curtis Stansbury and another cop came to her home and told Nicholas they would put him in handcuffs and charge him with assault but then later said they were only trying to scare the boy.  Irrera feels the policemen abused their powers.

The officers nor anyone else from the police department are allowed to comment about the case while the investigation is ongoing.  Assistant Chief Tandy Carter wouldn't speculate on how long the investigation could take.
