WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - I might be starting to sound like a broken record. In the last couple of months I've done two commentaries on Honor Flights – and this will be my 3rd?
By now most of you must know the Honor Flight program takes World War II veterans from hometowns across America to Washington so they can see the monument built in their honor. The first flight from Wilmington last month was a tremendous success, but this battle is not over.
The volunteers who made it possible have plans to load up another plane for a May 26 mission, which means another hundred or so veterans will get to make this trip.
But it all costs money and that's where you come in. We need to make sure all deserving veterans from this part of the country who want to make this trip can get there while they are still with us.
Please consider making a financial donation to help this wonderful group achieve mission number two. Call 910-874-VETS, or get more information by visiting www.honorflightsenc.org.
I know you may be tired of hearing me talk about this, but my hope is that we won't quit on them. When our country and the world needed them the most, they didn't quit on us.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
